Huntington North Star Signs with Lady Cougars
Fort Wayne, Indiana –Within a span of 3 weeks, the
University of St. Francis head women’s basketball coach Bruce Patterson scores
yet another big time prospect in Huntington North standout Cassie Kline.
Kline, who will be entering her senior year with the Lady Vikings, will play
next season for the currently No. 2 ranked Lady Cougars.
“We have always had terrific point guards.” Patterson remarked.
“Cassie will fit into our system nicely with her ball handling and passing
skills. She is by far the fastest recruit we have ever had in our
program.”
As a four-year starter for the Lady Vikings, Kline averaged 11 points, 6.2
assists, and 4 steals per game last season. The 5’ 3 ½” point guard
is a 2nd team S&L All-State performer and was twice named to the All-Olympic
Athletic Conference team. She was named to the Indianapolis Star Junior
All-State Team, while heading Huntington North to a 21-5 record last season.
She holds the school record for most assists in a single season with 162,
which also ranks her 4th with 271 career steals.
“Playing close to home was important to me.” stated Kline on why she
selected USF. “I have played AAU the past two summers and know coach
Patterson and the rest of their staff. I feel I am in tune and know what
the coaches are expecting. Their “run & gun” style of offense and
the fact they compete on a national level year in and year out is another reason
why I chose St. Francis.” Also, Cassie will being joining fellow
Huntington North teammate, Natalie Johnson, next year along with multiple
BoilerBacker AAU teammates.
