Due to a pair of late resignations, two schools were placed in difficult hiring situations with the season fast approaching. However, both schools have found very good replacements.
South Bend St. Joseph's has hired Adam Kroemer as the new coach for the Indians, filling the position left open by the September 30 resignation of Mike Megyese. Kroemer, who comes to SBSJ after head coaching positions at Lakewood Park and Fairview (OH), takes over a rebuilding program that went 12-8 last season. The Indians will be looking to replace some offense with the graduation of their two leading scorers from last season. The Indians face a daunting schedule early with opening games against Oregon-Davis, Plymouth, South Bend Washington and Elkhart Memorial.
South Adams, facing a coaching search after the recent resignation of Rex Lawrence -- who replaced Doug Beall just this past March -- hired former '80s Purdue and Bellmont standout Kip Jones to take over the Starfires program. Jones was an assistant at Bellmont last season and also has been assistant at Garrett, Ft. Wayne Dwenger and Indiana Tech. Jones' experience could help turn around a struggling program that has won only 15 games in the past five seasons.
