Crown Point vs.
Munster
Before a very nice CP home crowd, Munster took it to Crown Point from behind the three-point line to cruise to an ugly 17-point defeat for the Bulldogs. It looked like CP might give Munster a good game at the outset with back and forth scoring in the first quarter, and an 8-8 tie at the break. Munster broke it open in the second, however, going on a 13-4 point run for the frame to end with a 9-point Mustang lead. The Bulldogs could have challenged at the end of the half, hanging on to a double bonus the last four minutes of the half, but CP sat back in a perimeter offense with no penetration to get to the line. In the second half, the Mustangs led by as many as 19 points a few minutes into the final quarter. The Bulldogs made a run at it to get within 10, but because CP was unable to stay with the shooters, Munster connected on another trey to take the wind out of CP's sails with about 3:30 to go. The Dogs could not make anything happen after that, and the rest is history. For Crown Point, junior Nikki Borys led the scoring for her team with 9 points and 8 rebounds, while freshman Nicole Smoljan was a bright spot from the free-throw line on 7 of 12 shooting and 5 rebounds. Junior Sarah Zondor chipped in 8, while senior Allyson Carnahan contributed 7. Soph Alex Webster had 5 assists. For the game, Munster's Susan Hay took advantage of a number of open looks, connecting on three treys, and finishing with a game-high 18 points. Also taking advantage of opportunities, senior Stephanie Gill was good for 14 points.
CP - Borys 9, Zondor 8, Carnahan 7, Smoljan 7, Webster 3, Plumley 2, Lemke 1 Mu - Hay 18, Gill 14, Merkell 6, Schaum 6, Martin 2, Schrage 4, Wallace 2, Christopher 1
