Crown Point vs. Andrean

Crown Point 61, Andrean 44

Another slow start by the Lady 'Dogs made this road game a lot more interesting than it had to be to start.  After trailing in the first two quarters, CP turned up the heat to score 40 in the second half for a decisive 17-point win over the host 59'ers.

Although CP was taking care of the boards, six turnovers in the first quarter (3 on violations) did not bode well for the Dogs, and Andrean made the most of it, reeling off 10 points for the quarter to take a 4-point advantage.  Andrean extended its lead to 8 points after two more buckets to start the second, but CP finally responded with points from Sarah Zondor, Carissa Triplett, Alex Webster, Amanda Bernard and Janel Heneghan.  Heading into the half, the Dogs trailed by just 3, but were not playing their best.

The second half was a different story, and Triplett started off the scoring for CP with two consecutive buckets.  Zondor continued that trend, scoring 7 in the quarter, and Ashley Plumley knocked in a trey from long-range to give the Dogs a 2-point lead heading into the fourth.

CP broke it open in the fourth quarter for a rout, holding Andrean scoreless in an 18-0 run until the 59'ers finally scored with less than one minute to go.  In this decisive quarter, CP pulled down 11 rebounds and nabbed 5 steals to play keep away from the 59'ers.  Scoring by La'Kea Harvey, Triplett, Zondor, Borys and Bernard keyed the run, while Webster and Plumley limited Andrean's top scorer, Jamie Gutowski, to just 2 points in the final quarter.

At the time of this game, Andrean was ranked No. 15 in 3A, but the 59'ers lost their ranking in the polls after the loss.  Zondor, Triplett and Bernard were unstoppable in the scoring column and on the boards throughout the game.
